Video game addiction has become rampant amongst today’s kids. The children today are so involved in vide games that they neglect their studies as well as other tasks that they ought to do. There are so many video games available in the market today. Nintendo games like Super Mario were very famous. However, today video games like Playstation from Nintendo and Xbox from Microsoft are very much in favor amongst the children as well the teens.
People are spending increasing amounts of their time in playing video games. They don’t often understand their other responsibilities to which they have to give priorities an continue playing video games. No wonder the video games are fantastic and extremely graphics intensive but a certain amount of time should be allotted to playing video games everyday. People should then not break this time limit.
Video game addiction can lead to failure to stop playing video games and also shirking work. In children, video game addiction can lead to avoiding home work, going to school, not interacting with family members, going to bed late and disturbances in sleep. Hence we see that the consequences of video game addiction are very harmful. It is true that playing video games has several benefits like it helps to increase your response. However there should be a time limit for playing video games everyday. It would be better if people first complete their priority tasks and then sit down to play video games.
At present, there are many violent video games available in the market. Playing these types of video games regularly may make the child violent. He may start fighting with his friends for small reasons. Hence playing violent video games is extremely detrimental to the normal development of the child. Addiction in playing video games makes the child less socially active. Children who are video game addicts are often shy and they don’t like to interact with people, leave alone their family members.
Hence it becomes very necessary for parents to see to it that their children do not become video game addicts. There should be strict rules for playing video games that the children are required to follow. They should first finish all their priority tasks like their home work as well as their studies and then only play video games. Also video games should not only be the child’s only form of recreation. He should also indulge in outdoor activities as well.
