Choosing A Summer Day Camp - Helping Your Child To Build Self-confidence

July 25, 2008

The popularity of summer camps is rising in such a way that you can see their impact all around in the world. You may find nearly twelve thousand summer camps in the United States alone. Thousands of camps are organized for the benefits of teens and kids in other countries such as China, France, Canada and Russia. The American Camp Association has stated that over ten million kids attend summer camps each year. Those who can not afford overnight stay at the camp have chosen summer day camp.

Compared to week long stays at summer camps a summer day camp is getting popular and favorite among most of the children. A summer day camp has its own benefits. It will train your child to become energetic and will enjoy the programs under a supervised coaching. It will enable them to be responsible and independent in thinking.

Children by nature are very playful and always are interested in knowing new things. During their vacation time in summer, they want to have fun and enjoyment. But not all of them can join the week long stay at a summer camp because either they cannot afford the fee or they are not in a position to get separated from their parents. A summer day camp can therefore be a best alternative as children can return home at the end of the day.

There are small divisions and groupings are made for a summer day camp. The divisions are made for the convenience of little children, for example, the group for kindergarten group and the group for grades 1-2, and 3 to 5. Such grouping or divisions facilitate the kindergarten as an option of part day schedules if needed.

A summer day camp aims at providing the children the best kind of learning experiences in the environment of enjoyment and fun. The project-based classes are organized to motivate the children to develop their potentiality. The main function of the camp is to build competence and confidence in them.

Some traditional activities of children’s camps, for example outdoor sports like high ropes, boating, swimming activity, archery, fishing, crafts, arts etc. are also the integral activities of a summer day camp. These activities are geared towards helping the children to shape dynamic personality and lifestyles.
