Surge of Anime Style Game Titles Available for Sale
October 6, 2009
In the past several years there has been a surge of anime style games hitting the market. These games are amongst the most widely used games that are sold, but are also lots of the strangest. Why are anime style games so widely used and will this trend maintain in the future?
Obviously, this surge of anime style games coming to the U.S. is not anything the first time. Many of the most widely used games of the past couple of decades hail from Japanese manufacturers. However, most of them were also tuned down substantially from their anime style releases to appear more like ones from the states. Some of the drawings may have been tweaked and maybe even elements of the story. Certainly voiceovers and other key elements were changed so that American gamers would use the video game as well without even realizing its origin unless they paid attention to the video game industry.
The change over the past couple of years has been that a good deal of these anime style games are now heading straight to the retailers without being changed in the fashion they had been. Many of them are totally untouched, including anime style voices and language. This stands out to the hardcore gamer that craves as untainted of a game as he can purchase. It additionally appeals to fans that may be interested in Japanese culture and influence.
Still, the majority of gamers that enjoy anime style games are ones that are just looking for something unique. Straight from Japan games are unlike anything that U.S. manufacturers would ever come up with. Common factors like the animations and story line are completely opposite. Some anime style games are known to be more violent, while others are made to be more cutesy. There are a handful of techniques within the entirety of anime style games, but all of them are completely unique from anything made by other companies.
One final reason for why this trend is becoming stronger is that Japanese influence has moved into all areas of life. Straight from Japan game shows and cartoons are underground favorites throughout the U.S.. Additionally, advanced Japanese gadgets are also widely used. Straight from Japan games are therefore just another component of that overall trend.
It looks like anime style games will continue their surge in the U.S. and throughout the globe. They offer something fresh that other games can’t match, and it’s that fresh feel that game enthusiasts desire. If you haven’t tried one for yourself, get your hands on an authentic anime style video game that will be guaranteed to leave you talking about.

Back with another MAME review. This one is of Spinmaster/Miracle Adventure by Data East on the Neo Geo Arcade hardware. It is much needed side scrolling action game on a system dominated by fighting games. Enjoy.
I know once in the review I call the game Magic Adventure but that was just a mistake it really is Miracle Advernture (Japanese version of course).
