If extreme adventure sports is what turns you on, you will find the beckoning of wakeskating very hard to resist indeed. Wakeskating as a sport offers a perfect amalgam of fun, thrill and speed and is already a popular activity in many parts of the world. So go get yourself some great wakeskating equipment and once you have done so, you can enjoy your favorite sport.
For those people who are new to the thrills that it offers, wakeskating is an example of extreme sport that uses powerful, controllable kites to propel riders on top of mountain boards or surfing boards at very high speeds across bodies of waters such as the lakes and the sea. The origins of wakeskating can be traced back to the early 90’s, in the early kite skating or Rollerkiting, as it was called back then, activities of sport kite enthusiasts in the US East Coast. However the popularity of the sport has today grown rapidly and has even crossed the shores of the US.
During its pioneering days, wakeskating involved the use of four-line controllable parafoil kites which allows for a fast and thrilling ride. Large lakes were some of the most popular venues for these early wakeskating efforts. Wakeskating is sure to give plenty of thrill and excitement for the player as well as for the audience as it is always a lot of fun to watch. All that is needed is to ensure that they have the best wakeskating equipment.
With the advent of the kite buggy, kiteskating and wakeskating took a backseat but was not completely forgotten. The popularity of kiteskating began to rise once again in 1992 under the pioneering efforts of Bob Childs who built a pair of off-road in-line skates using Rollerblade boots and scooter wheels.
Over the last few years, wakeskating equipment have undergone many changes and improvements. So, with the improvement in quality and enhancement of popularity, today it is not very hard to find quality and safe equipment. Keep in mind that in order to ensure maximum safety, you must always insist on the best quality gear that will live up to the rigorous demands of the sport. Remember, the better the quality of your equipment, the better will be your performance always.

Perfecting The Art Of Buying Gear For Kiteboarding
February 27, 2009
Few things pump your adrenaline as much as kiteboarding does. For those who like to experience sporting action to the extreme and like living on the edge, kiteboarding is a natural choice for them. If you are constantly feeling a need for speed and dying for a real thrill ride, kiteboarding is the thing for you. If you are among those who do not yet know what kiteboarding actually means, let me tell you that it is an extreme sport using powerful, controllable kites to propel riders on in-line skates, off-road skates or mountain boards at speeds up to 60 mph across parking lots, dry lakes, grassy fields and sandy beaches. So do you feel like trying out this great sport, if you do, then you should get some kite boards.
The origins of kiteboarding can be traced back to the early 90’s, in the early kite skating (or Rollerkiting, as it was then called) activities of sport kite enthusiasts in the US East Coast. In those early days, kiteskaters were mostly to be found in large parking lots practicing their craft. However with the increasing popularity of kiteboarding, people outside the USA also participate in this sport these days. Early kite skaters used Rollerblades and four-line controllable kites made of parafoil for a fast and thrilling ride.
However the general interest over kiteboarding waned a little in subsequent years with the advent of kite buggy racing. Nonetheless, it came back stronger than ever in 1992, thanks to the pioneering efforts of Bob Childs who built a pair of off-road in-line skates using Rollerblade boots and scooter wheels, which reignited the general interest in kiteboarding again. With an increase in its popularity, more and more people has been asking for kiteboarding gear since then.
Over the last few years, the equipment used in the sport have undergone many changes and improvements. Anybody wishing to take up kiteboarding can easily avail all the requisite kiteboarding gear these days. It is critical to use only the best quality gear that will not give way under the usually strenuous demands of the sport.
Like every other sport, performance depends substantially on the quality of the kiteboarding gear that you are using. Using high quality equipment will on the one hand uphold the quality and on the other hand, ensure that you will be safe. Recently, ATB skateboard riders have joined the league of kite skaters. Using mountain-boards, the kite skateboarding daredevils practice their craft on multi-terrain surfaces although at a lesser speed than Kite Skaters. However, kite skateboarding offers a better opportunity for performing jump tricks and other trick moves.

The very mention of the name Pittsburgh Steelers seem to reflect certain things and abstract feelings, which are definitely beyond the notion of being only a football team. The first things that generally come to the mind related to the Steelers is the idea of a never say die spirit, an awe-inspiring appearance on the field and most importantly an almost crazy fan base.
One can easily trace back the reasons for the Steelers being such a dynasty in their history of records, which has been unmatched in the game till now. Moreover a very sleek and attractive yet quite humble in design logo along with their beloved mascot called Steely McBeam also extend their popularity and craze in to a mass hysteria like thing which goes even beyond just the sports related statistics. This whole idea of Pittsburgh Steelers’ image is converted into a perfectly consumable and tangible thing via their merchandise base. Covering an extremely wide range of items and varieties, the Pittsburgh Steelers merchandise brings to its fans and admirers the same spirit and attitude of the team which they will never forget during the course of the games and championships. William And The Well Played Match
February 27, 2009
The following passage is from former Celtics great Russell, in his book: Second Wind: The Memoirs of an Opinionated Man, Random House, 1979, pp 155-158. In it, he describes the transcendant experience that I call “The nicely-Played match”
And i’ve found it on image board
For more you can also check Anonymous board
RussellEvery so often a Celtic match would heat up so that it became more than a physical or even mental match, and would be magical. That feeling is difficult to describe, and I certainly never talked about it when I was playing. When it happened I could feel my play rise to a new level. It came rarely, and would last anywhere from five minutes to a whole quarter or more. Three or four plays were not enough to get it going. It would surround not only me and the other Celtics but also the players on the other team, and even the referees. To me, the key was that both teams had to be playing at their peaks, and they had to be competitive. The Celtics could not to it alone. I remember the fifth and final match of the 1965 championship series, when we opened the fourth quarter ahead of the Lakers by sixteen points, playing beautifully together, and then we simply took off into unknown peaks and ran off twenty straight points to go up by thirty-six points, and astounding margin for a championship series. We were on fire, intimidating, making shots, running the break, and the Lakers just couldn’t score. As much as I wanted to win that championship, I remember being disappointed that the Lakers were not playing better. We were playing well enough to attain that special level, but we couldn’t do it without them.
That mystical feeling usually came with better teams in the league that were challenging us for the championship. Over the years that the Celtics were consistently good, our rivals would change, as teams would come up to challenge and then fall off again. First it was the Hawks, then the Lakers, Royals, Warriors, 76ers and then the Lakers again, with the Nicks beginning to move. They were the teams good enough to reach that level with us some nights. It never started with a hot streak by a single player, or with a breakdown of one team’s defense. It usually began when three or four of the ten guys on the floor would heat up; they would be the catalysts, and they were almost always the stars in the league. If we were playing the Lakers, for example, West and Baylor and Cousy or Sam and I would be enough. The feeling would spread to the other guys, and we’d all levitate. And then the match would just take off, and there’d be a natural ebb and flow that reminded you of how rhythmic and musical basketball is supposed to be. I’d find myself thinking, “This is it. I want this to keep going,” and I’d actually be rooting for the other team. When their players made spectacular moves, I wanted their shots to go in the bucket. That’s how pumped up I’d be. I’d be out there talking to the other Celtics, encouraging them and pushing myself harder, but at the same time part of me would be pulling for the other players too.
At that special level all sorts of odd things happened. The match would be in a white heat of competition, and yet somehow I wouldn’t feel competitive — which is a miracle in itself. I’d be putting out the maximum effort, straining, coughing up parts of my lungs as we ran, and yet I never felt the pain. The match would move so quickly that every fake, cut and pass would be surprising, and yet nothing could surprise me. Even before the other team brought the ball in bounds, I could feel it so keenly that I’d want to shout to my teammates, “It’s coming there!” — except that I knew everything would change if it did. My premonitions would be consistently correct, and I always felt then that I not only knew all the Celtics by heart but also all the opposing players, and they knew me. There have been many times in my career when I felt moved or joyful, but these were the moments when I had chills pulsing up and down my spine.
But these spells were fragile. An injury would break them, and so would a couple of bad plays or a bad call by a referee. Once a referee broke a run by making a bad call in my favor, which so irritated me that I protested it as I stood at the foul line to take my free throws. “You know it was a bad call, ref,” I said wearily. He looked at me as if I was crazy, and then got so angry that I never again protested a call unless it went against me. Still, I always suffered a letdown when one of those spells died, because I never knew how to bring them back; all I could do was keep playing my best and hope. They were sweet when they came, and the hope that one would come was one of my strongest motivations for walking out there.
Sometimes the feeling would last all the way to the end of the match, and when that happened I never cared who won. I can honestly say that those few times were the only ones when I did not care. I don’t mean that I was a good sport about it — that I’d played my best and had nothing to be ashamed of. On the five or ten occasions when the match ended at that special level, I literally did not care who had won. If we lost, I’d still be as free and as high as a sky hawk. But I had to be quiet about it. At times I’d hint around to the other players about this feeling, but I never talked about it much, least of all to the other Celtics. I felt a little weird about it, and quite private. Besides, I couldn’t let on to my teammates that it was ever all right to lose; I had too much of an influence on the team. We were the Celtics, and our reason for being was to win championships, so I had to keep those private feelings to myself. It was good I did; if I’d tried to explain, I’d never have gotten past the first two sentences. Anything I confided would sound too awkward and sincere for Celtic tastes, and I could just hear Satch and Nelson. The next time we lost an ordinary match they’d have been cackling, “That’s all right, Russ. It don’t matter that we lost, because we had that special feeling out there tonight. Yeah, it felt real special.”

Family Bonding In Los Cabos
February 25, 2009
Not so long ago, I remember, when Matt was around seven years of age, we shared a unique and special bond. He was my son and we were the best of friends. His mother and I separated when he was only three and it was just the two of us from then on, but now that he’s twelve and approaching his teenage years, I feel we are becoming more apart. I tried hard to make him think how important the relationship of a father to a son is. He simply replied, “Why are you not close to grandpa and grandma then?” I was dumbfounded and speechless because he was right. That very next day, I planned a family reunion of which I plan to invite as many as I can. We were just an hour’s drive away from Los Cabos Mexico, so I figured it would be the best place. I’ve been there before but just for one afternoon and ate at one of the restaurants so I wasn’t really able to enjoy the place.
I checked out some hotels in Los Cabos Mexico and I was fortunate enough to find one which gave special discounts and freebies for large groups. My mom and dad agreed to come along with my aunt and my sisters and their families as well. It was just a short drive so we were there in no time at all.
The Los Cabos hotel was generous enough to give us a free welcome breakfast buffet which was not included in the package. Our five day reservation didn’t include meals but the hotel was kind enough to treat us with a free buffet when we arrived. Since I had limited funds because it was a quick decision, we only stayed in a mid-classed hotel, but what they lacked in size and facilities they surely made up for quality service and food. When we arrived, we did not really wander way off the hotel’s vicinity and just decided to swim at their pool. We didn’t go to the sea yet.
Next day, we woke up early and decided to walk around other parts of Los Cabos. We rented some fishing boats and headed off to sea. I was with my dad and my son. As I see them together, with smiles on their faces trying to pretend to know how to fish, I saw myself when I was just a boy with my dad when we were fishing. It was only in the later years that we became apart due to some disputes and differences. The waters were calm that day and it was just us three and the sound of the waters and the wind. Although the activity was far from exhilarating, it certainly refreshed my thoughts to a better point of view. It gave new life and refreshed my thoughts on a lot of things.
After lunch, we all gathered at the beach and played volleyball. Los Cabos wasn’t really crowded then so we had all the space we needed to play. The hotel staff was kind enough to help us put up our make shift net and the game was on. We chose sides and almost everyone joined. It was quite tiring but well worth it. We had so much fun though my dad kept on bragging that if he was only younger he’d beat all of us to pulp. Being a player for the school team when he was young, my dad had so many stories of their games which he can still recall clearly. It was one story after another and we all laughed how excited he was telling us about them.
When nighttime came, we all ate at this nearby restaurant which served local Mexican dishes. After dinner, since we were in Mexico, some tequila shots for the elders were in order. We stayed late that night, just sitting at the beach front of the Los Cabos hotel we were at. We exchange stories, plans and jokes all night. It was all family and it was a great time to interact. I thought that we would all have an open forum discussing our problems with one another but it never came to be. Instead, we just had a good time and somehow felt the special bond which we used to have with one another long ago and I think everyone felt that we needed to recover and retain that attachment.
We went to Los Cabos thinking it would be a way to solve our family problems, but upon getting there, there seemed to be no problem to solve after all. It was several months ago, and now our families are closer than ever, and I think we owe it to that simple but memorable vacation.
Review Of Sd880 Canon Ultra Compact Camera
February 25, 2009
Canon SD880 IS Camera Review, Camera Review Canon SD880, Canon SD880 Ultra Compact Camera Review
I was nervous when I started the process of trying to buy a new Camera because there are so many to choose from and the rate of improvement seems almost to be almost monthly.
I picked this camera because:
It has a wide angle lens, this can make it better for taking pictures in rooms as you can get more in the picture.
It takes video, I wanted to be able to make simple videos without having to drag a larger format video camera around with me wherever I go.
It records sound along with the video as well as simply acting as a sound recorder, this lets me record conversations without the need to always take notes.
It is ultra compact, this means I can carry it everywhere I go using a belt clip so I don’t miss snaps because I didn’t want to carry a camera. I’m lazy like that.
It is manufactured by a camera company and not a computer company, the implication being that the optics are in theory better.
On using this camera I discovered:
It lived up to all the above points and is also really easy to use, point and snap or get picky about specific settings.
The video is really high quality and with the 16Gb memory card I also bought, it can in theory take up to 4 hours of video.
The battery seems to last a long time. I bought a second which I keep just in case it’s needed in the case.
The picture quality is excellent, I certainly can’t fault it and the screen is remarkably bright and large.
The Canon Ultra SD880 comes with a charger that you plug the battery into directly. As the camera itself only comes with a 32Mb memory card, I purchased an additional card. This card came with a USB stick enabling me to plug it straight into my PC. Therefore I discovered I needed no cables at all though a download cable does come with the camera.
Although the battery life seems to be very good with this camera. I have learned that it always pays to carry a spare battery as there is nothing worse than running out of power at a crucial moment. Given that the Li-ion NB-5L batteries for this camera are ridiculously inexpensive (as low as $2.00 each) and fit inside a typical carry case I would not be without one.
It’s hard to find fault with this camera. It would have been icing on the cake if Canon had included a microphone jack and a wide screen mode for video recording as seems now to be the rage for YouTube videos.
In just two short weeks I have found that I use this camera almost exclusively and have yet to be disappointed with the results.
